Adecco is currently recruiting for a General Manager. This is a full-time permanent role to work with our client located in Regina & Fort Qu’Appelle, SK. The Assistant General Manager is accountable for leading profitable operations for the company in respect to the proper management of the company assets, employees and maximizing sales and profitability and minimizing expenses.
The General Manager will have the following responsibilities:
Leads by example to ensure a high level of customer service
Responds immediately to resolve customer complaints in a positive and constructive manner
Ensure Safe Work Practices are in place for all employees to adhere to
Attend or assign a manager to represent management on company Health and Safety Committee
Attend Health and Safety Committee meetings
Ensure all equipment is in good condition and safe (ladders, forklifts, trucks)
Develop and implement a business plan annually or as required.
Establish, monitor and control budget for inventory, sales, advertising, personnel and expenses.
Work with Department Managers to establish departmental policies, goals and objectives.
Establish and maintain a positive relationship with all suppliers
Monitor market prices to ensure the company is competitive.
Enhance relationships with current clients to increase sales
Ensure that warehouse and yard personnel accurately receive and properly store merchandise
Possess strong working knowledge of store security measures.
Ensure that inventory is protected against loss and theft
Establish scheduled supervisors and/or department managers meetings.
Set goals and provide immediate feedback on employee performance
Sign payroll adjustments and capital expenditure cheques
Handle all employee complaints and grievances that involve department managers
Hiring and selection of Senior Positions.
The General Manager must meet the following mandatory requirements:
Business degree would be an asset
Proven history of experience within the building materials industry environment
5+ years of experience managing and supervising personnel
A strong knowledge of the lumber and building material industry
Knowledge of the community and local area is a plus
Experience with computer and web-based systems.
Valid driver’s license
Self-motivated team leader with excellent coaching and interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to prioritize and effectively execute tasks in a high-pressure environment to meet deadlines
