The Role:

· Reports to the Regional Human Resources Manager in the USA, with a strong dotted line to the General Manager/Plant Manager in Collingwood.

· Direct Reports are: Human Resources Generalist (1 in Collingwood and 1 in Whitby), Occupational Health Nurse and the Gate House Attendants.

· Create and build relationships with employees; create and cultivate a business partnership with Plant Management and core team with focus on plant strategy, hiring and retention plans,

· Responsible for all HR management activities in the Collingwood and Whitby locations

· Manage and administer collective agreement and grievance process in the plant (two (2) unions in Collingwood and one (1) in Whitby)

· Payroll and benefit/pension co-administration aligned with Plant Controller. Will work with Sr. Benefits Manager regarding all Canadian contracts regarding pensions and benefits.

· Ensure HR-related policies and procedures are communicated properly and are being followed in the plant. Update and implement policies as needed.

· Responsible for internal communications

· Complete all KPI and monthly reporting as required

· Travel to Whitby location as needed, minimum once per month. Travel to the USA 1 to 2 times per year.

· Directs, plans and implements a wide variety of Human Resources programs in the following areas: wages, salary administration, employee benefits, employment and pay equity, labour relations employee/management training and hiring / termination of all staff at facility.

· Directs the maintenance and evolution of company policies and procedures as they apply to the facility.


· University degree in related field

· Seven (7) plus years of related experience in manufacturing environment or equivalent education and experience combined

· CHRL Designation

· Experience dealing with a collective agreement and the grievance process

· Excellent computer skills. Team player

· Ability to work effectively and efficiently with autonomy.

· Strong interpersonal skills with results-oriented approach along with good organizational
