Adecco is currently recruiting for a permanent position as a HR Policy and Compensation Manager. Our client is located in the East-End of Ottawa, ON. This position requires a Criminal Background check or eligibility for one.
The HR Policy and Compensation Manager will have the following responsibilities:
-Work with stakeholders to identify requirements and manage the planning, development and implementation of related HR programs and initiatives;
-Develop, implement and maintain effective job documentation, job evaluation and pay equity processes and practices;
-Manage strategic compensation and benefits plans, programs and practices that enable business objectives manage risk and costs, and align with best practices;
-Support research, data and analytics needs related to collective bargaining and other legislative and labour relations activities;
-Support the preparation of and manage assigned budgets, monitors expenditures, ensures the timely validation and approval of expenses, and ensures costs are controlled;
-Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of HR policies and procedures, including supporting communication and learning efforts;
-Identify, recommend and lead changes to policies and procedures and employment contracts to reflect legislative requirements, best practices and managed risk to the organization;
-Monitor developments and trends in the HR industry, identify best practices, statutory changes and compliance gaps, and analyze and report on impacts, opportunities and risks;
-Provide leadership and overall management of staff within areas of responsibility, including assigning, monitoring and evaluating work, setting work plans, priorities and expectations, coaching, developing and motivating staff, and ensuring effective service delivery;
-Identify, plans for and manages human resources needs for assigned area of responsibility, including hiring, termination, discipline, investigations and grievances;
-Ensure that own work and the work of all employees is carried out in accordance with applicable health, safety and privacy legislation, policies and procedures, and all other legislation, policies and procedures relevant to area of work.
The HR Policy and Compensation Managermust meet the following mandatory requirements:
-Hold a University Degree in HR, Industrial Relations or related field;
-5+ years of experience managing, developing and delivering human resources programs in a unionized environment; 
-2+ years of experience managing compensation and benefits programs, including job evaluation;
-Hold a valid “G” Driver’s license and use of personal vehicle for business purposes;
-Knowledge of quantitative principles applicable to compensation, including measures of central tendency and variability, time value of money and simple regression analysis;
-General knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques related to disability management and early return to work strategies;
-Knowledge of project management principles, practices, and techniques;
-Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and responsibilities of workers and supervisors;
-Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), human resource information systems, and other standard corporate software;
-Excellent communication, organizational and written skills.
Nice to have:
-Hold a Human Resources certification;
-Fluent in both French and English.
