Our client is one of the largest distributors of residential and non-residential building products in North America. They currently operate in 50 U.S. states and 6 Canadian provinces. They are known throughout the building supply industry for having quality people, quality service and quality building products. They are also a publicly traded company.
We are looking for a Director of Human Resources in Toronto to guide and manage the organization’s operations by training, coaching, counseling, discipline as well as reviewing individual career contributions and compensations.
Director of HR (Bilingual) Job Functions:

Provide expertise in hiring, sourcing, interviewing and negotiating
Work towards employer branding of the company
Identify opportunities for improvement and resolve discrepancies
Provide industry expertise as it pertains to compensation and benefits administration
Lead the development of department goals, objectives, and systems
Administer performance management platforms as well as improved systems
Research and present ongoing employment and compliance concerns
Execute employee orientation, development, and training
Build and refresh the organization’s policies and staff documentation
Manage HR issues such as conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and terminations; provide guidance and advice as appropriate
Build strong relationships with employees throughout the company and act as a liaison between other departments, divisions, and stakeholders
Oversee employee safety, welfare, wellness, health as well as provide counseling
Select and supervise HR consultants, attorneys, training specialist, and coordinate company use of insurance brokers, insurance carriers, pension administration, and other outside sources
Conduct a continuing study of all HR policies, programs and practices to keep management informed of new developments
Participate in executive, management, and company staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars
Develop and monitor annual budgets that include HR services, employee recognition, company philanthropic contributions and administration
Oversee all HR initiatives, onboarding, offboarding, systems, and tactics
Other related duties as needed

Director of HR (Bilingual) Requirements:

MUST BE: Bilingual French/English
10-12 progressive experience in human resources
Above average oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
Strong knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and development
Ability to serve as a knowledgeable participant on the executive management team that provides company leadership and direction
You must be tech savvy and possess excellent computer skills
Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs
Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality
Excellent organizational skills
Designation earned in Canada as a Certified Human Resource Leader (CHRL), however, Certified Human Resource Executive (CHRE) is preferred
Bachelor's degree or ample experience in a relevant field is required

Director of HR (Bilingual) Compensation:

130K-150K Base Salary + 20% bonus
