Adecco is currently hiring for a Software Designer (V&V) in Peterborough, ON. Our client is one of Canada's leading aerospace and defense manufacturers specializing in electronic controls and data recording devices. Responsibilities for this role include validation of requirements and verification of software systems in a team setting. This position reports to the Software Engineering Manager and typically requires and includes the design and development of real-time control algorithms, sensor interfaces, serial and other communications interfaces. The client is seeking a candidate with a formal engineering or computer science education and training. This is a contract position from November 2020 until May 2021 and offers a pay rate of $27-45/hr commensurate with years of relevant educational and work experience.

Intermediate Software V&V Designer Responsibilities:

  • Perform requirement validation and software verification for the application of computer technology in real-time embedded control environment
  • Analyze and specify software verification environment (SVE), testing environment setup, debugging and profiling tools
  • Review software architecture and formal structured design against product and software requirements
  • Review source codes against detailed design documents, standards and perform analysis, review and testing
  • Perform software traceability analysis from system requirements to software design, implementation and verification
  • Develop and document formal software test plans, test cases, test procedures and test results
  • Develop, deploy and support processes, reviews (SOI), verification plans and review checklists
  • Perform system and software documentation review and sign off
  • Analyze, generate and review software life cycle data packages for certification
  • Mentor and review the work of junior software engineering employees
  • Perform activities as assigned by the Software Engineering Manager
  • Intermediate Software V&V Designer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent combination of training and experience in multi-disciplines team setting in Software and Engineering Industries;
  • Minimum 5 years of software V&V experience with embedded systems and real-time operating systems;
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience with integrated software development environment (SDE) and tools, configuration management systems (CM) and problem reporting system (PR);
  • Minimum 2 years working experience on MPC55xx, ARM7 and Cortex-Mx micro-controller series;
  • Working experience on formal and model-based software design and implementation methodologies and models (Simulink, SCADE);
  • Good working knowledge of software verification methodologies and profiling tools;
  • Good working experience on software tools development and qualification;
  • Working experience with processes or equivalent formal certification processes;
  • Working experience with safety critical and high performance products in aerospace, robotics, power and/or medical applications;
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills;
  • Experience with DOORS, control theory and hardware in the loop testing are assets;
  • Professionally registered (P. Eng) in Ontario (or have the ability to obtain such registration within one year of employment).
