Adecco is currently hiring for a Lab Technologist for our client in the HVAC industry located in Ottawa South. This is a full time, permanent opportunity offering Monday to Friday day time hours.  Compensation typically starts at $50K depending on level of experience. 
Lab Technologist Duties and Responsibilities:
-    Generate test plans based on project technical specifications as well as FMEA of equipment to be tested
-    Contribute to creating and maintaining FMEA for electro-mechanical equipment
-    Assemble and wire prototypes from drawings and written and verbal instructions provided by engineering staff
-    Modify prototype parts under direction of engineering staff using in house metal fabrication equipment
-    Install, commission and maintain prototype equipment in labs
-    Maintain written logs indicating performance of prototype equipment
-    Set up and conduct bench tests for components
-    Install sensors and operate data acquisition instrumentation as required for testing
-    Analyze and summarize test results’ raw data to the extent that it is report worthy
-    Generate written lab reports on all tests performed
-    Actively participate in root cause analysis to devise a solution when a test fails
-    Assists in failure analysis & investigations on behalf of engineering by providing technical insight. Collaborate with engineering and quality to develop sound corrective actions
-    Troubleshooting of devices under test when needs be
-    As required participate in customer field service, assisting with troubleshooting of equipment and coordination of repair. Expected to travel on occasions that warrant onsite presence
-    Insure Engineering labs have the resources and infrastructure to test and validate humidification equipment
-    Adhere to corporate’s Quality Assurance System and Health and Safety Policies
-    Other duties as assigned by management

Lab Technologist Qualifications:
-    Technologist degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with several years’ experience operating, testing, and repairing electromechanical equipment
-    Excellent written and verbal skills in English; ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports/logs and effectively present information
-    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
-    Basic working knowledge of MS Suite, Word, Excel, Access
-    Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Certified Technician (C. Tech) considered an asset
-    Hands on and capable of making modifications to test equipment to address fit-up and operational issues. Ability to use hand held tools, drill press, shear, and manual brake press
