The primary responsibility of this role is to plan, organize, and monitor runs and deliveries in order to ensure the most timely and efficient movement of trucks and to minimize empty miles and wait times. Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify required loads two to seven days out and organize for the greatest efficiency
Assign and line up loads and deliveries based on efficiency and information from Brokers
Monitor scheduled runs to ensure they are on schedule and advise Brokers, Customer Service, and/or Planner in the next region of any changes
Oversee daily activities of Drivers and address issues (e.g. load refusals, late deliveries, poor customer service) with Brokers; escalate issues to Broker Services as required
Task the planners with the safe on timely movement of freight between our customers and our terminal with scheduled and nonscheduled linehaul units
Monitor the loads and trucks in specific geography prioritizing and planning power to move loads to their destination
Communicate with drivers and brokers to execute the plan
Answer calls, emails and other forms of communication with drivers, terminal staff, CSR and other departments.
Monitor road and weather conditions and initiate required actions in accordance with D&R policy
Complete various reports and documents as required
Be an active team member and foster a positive environment of continuous improvement
Perform other related duties as may be required
Requirements and Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in logistics or business administration is needed
An acceptable combination of education and training may be considered
Minimum 3 years of experience in a time-sensitive, planning and organizing role is needed, preferably in the transportation industry
Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook are a must
Experience with AS400 is an asset
Capable of working in a busy office environment with extensive computer work and handling documentation
Able to visit other locations, including offices, terminals, maintenance shops, etc.
Capable of sitting and working on a computer/ phone for an extended period of time
PPE must be worn at all times
Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
