Adecco is currently hiring an experienced full-time Lodge Manager to work in Stuart Island, BC. As the Lodge Manager you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the lodge operations and maintenance, while adhering to company quality expectations for service and the facility. The position is a full-time, year-round position. The Lodge Manager reports to the company Director of Corporate Services, and directly supervises a staff of two or three Lodge employees and four contracted fishing guides.
This is a position is for a couple. Accommodation is provided. All expenses paid; however, you are required to live on the island all year round.

Pay rate: Salary range is $57,400 - $85,900 (per person).

Responsibilities:
Lodge Operations:
Manage the Lodge operations including dining services, guest room housekeeping, and guest support.
Support guest entertainment activities, which may include pre-dinner appetizers and conversation, Bocce ball, executive golf, bonfire, card games, nature walks, etc.
Purchase goods and services necessary for operations, repair and maintenance using established procurement procedures.
Prepare and submit for approval an annual overhead expense and capital budget.
Manage all costs to the budget for areas under control of the lodge, including, but not limited to operations, repair and maintenance; sport fishing and utilities.
Facilities & Maintenance:
Maintain and repair Lodge facilities including buildings, utilities, grounds and docks to company quality expectations.
Operate and maintain all utility systems including electric power, water, septic, heating systems, fire protection.
Manage Groundskeeper to ensure grounds and vegetable garden are maintained in high quality condition.
Perform necessary repair and maintenance of the facilities and equipment to keep them in good condition.
Responsibility for safe operation and maintenance of two boats.
Prepare, propose and complete a Winter Work List each year of projects recommended to keep the facilities and equipment in good condition.
Develop cost estimates for goods and services necessary to complete the work list.
Implement major projects, as required, such as building demolition and cleanup; upgrade of power system; and dock replacement.
Perform as an integral member of the Lodge staff team and assist with other duties as required including grounds keeping, housekeeping, guest support.
Safety:
Guest Trip Coordination:
Coordinate with the company Event Coordinator to prepare a proposed schedule for the season.
Manage all aspects of trip logistics, fishing, meals, activities etc. with the company Event Coordinator and trip hosts.
Greet guests upon arrival, and ensure they have a quality experience throughout their stay.
Sport Fishing:
Identify and recruit high quality expert fishing guides.
Ensure guides adhere to the highest standards for guest safety.
Ensure guides maintain required insurance and licenses.
Coordinate the trip schedule with guides.
Coordinate with the company Event Coordinator and obtain fishing licenses for guests.
Ensure all aspects of the sport fishing are to company expectations included presentation and appearance of guides and boats.
Assist the fishing guides to process and package the fish catch for guests.
Staff Management:
Effectively assist, train, develop, motivate and manage lodge staff and contractors.
Responsibility for the hire or contracting of lodge staff.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in a similar position.
Prior lodge, hotel or management experience.
Facility maintenance experience desired
Experience as a sport fishing guide, naturalist, groundskeeper or gardener desired
Small boat handling training and experience
Budget or small account management experience required.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to listen and develop positive working relationships.
PC skills including proficiency with MS Office Suite.
Ability to work in remote location.
Ability to work extended hours as needed.
Qualified small boat operator with Small Vessel Operator Proficiency training certification required.
Current 1st aid and CPR training required.
Experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of lodge systems (generators, pumps, kitchen appliances, small boats, piping, electrical, water systems, plumbing, heating systems) required.
Strong leadership qualities.
Prior supervisory experience desired.
Excellent customer service skills.
Relates to people in an open, friendly, accepting manner.
Must accept resident position in remote, isolated location in very small community with few outside connections.
Required to reside at the lodge in a single bedroom apartment.
