Machine Operator

Adecco is currently hiring for a permanent, full-time Machine Operator - Blow Mold in Surrey, BC, for our client, a leading company specializing in the plastic supply industry. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the quality of products while meeting the established production goals to ensure on-time shipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform the entire changeover process from mold, tooling, head removal to installation
  • Responsible for the changeover of all downstream equipment, material, and resin changes as well as the start-up of machines in a safe manner
  • Set-up and troubleshoot blow molding machines as required
  • Improve overall quality, cycle times, machine performance including reducing down-time and scrap reduction
  • Ensure all quality control procedures are being followed to maintain a stable process and achieve product quality goals
  • Troubleshoot capability for machine, auxiliary equipment (leak testers, flamers, sleeving machine, etc.), and quality-related problems working towards a root cause and permanent corrective action
  • Perform minor repairs to blow molding and auxiliary equipment
  • Ensure proper documentation of daily production paperwork at the end of each shift
  • Follow Company safety rules as per Supervisor’s instructions including wearing personal protective equipment 100% of the time and ensuring that all safety procedures are followed
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of use and safety of blow molding and auxiliary equipment
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in extrusion blow molding operation and processing
  • Experience with single and dual heads and some shuttle experience
  • Hands-on experience performing mold changes, set-up, and troubleshooting
  • Good understanding of Vacuum systems and ability to set up material blender units
  • GMP, 5S, and some supervisory experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of VK1 to 10; Atoma; AT15D; VK14 & VK16; & Koutec would be an asset
  • Millwright license is desirable
  • Must be physically fit
  • Good problem-solving skills in production and continuous improvement
  • Firm grasp of health and safety code
  • Flexible and self-motivated with strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously, as required
  • Fast learner with the ability to be flexible when required 
  • Good working knowledge and ability to navigate a PC windows environment, including shared drives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, & Excel)
  • Ability to learn new software quickly and willingness to continuously develop technology skills
  • Demonstrate good and safe work habits and have a clean working environment
