Adecco is currently recruiting for a permanent, Machine Shop Supervisor in Victoria, BC, to work at a well-established manufacturer in Victoria, BC. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and evaluation of the machine shop and its production employees with a focus on safety, efficiency, and quality. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related role supervising machining processes and must be knowledgeable in CNC machining and CAM programming. 

  • Pay rate: $95,000-$105,000/year
  • Location: Victoria, BC| Relocation Assistance is provided

  • Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, develop, and mentor a team of 25-30 unionized production employees
  • Coach, mentor, and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems with objectivity and maturity
  • Lead with humility and fairness
  • Ensure department personnel are provided opportunities for development and training
  • Comply, and ensure compliance, with performance and department objectives
  • Ensure compliance with safety, labor, and environmental requirements
  • Make efficient use of materials, machines, employees, and available resources
  • Coordinate with other departments, supervisors, and management to achieve successful execution of the production schedule
  • Promote and implement continuous improvement in the machine shop processes
  •  Requirements and Qualifications: 

  • 3-5 years of previous experience in an equivalent role supervising machining process is required
  • Technical training, certification or a degree in a field related to machining is required, or a combination of related experience and education
  • Previous experience and knowledge of manual machining processes, CNC machining and CAM programming is a must
  • Previous experience in mechatronics, automation and un-attended manufacturing processes is an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, or related software
  • Familiarity with ERP system is a plus
  • Must be forward-thinking and creative, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and make independent decisions
  • Able to lead and mentor production support employees in a unionized
  • Demonstrate values of personal accountability, humility, discipline, trust, and urgency
  • Must have strong analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail, are all critical
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
