Our client in Toronto, ON is recruiting for a Manager, Financial Reporting & Compliance reporting to the Finance Director, Canada.

The role is responsible for timely and accurate reporting and results for the company and its divisions along with compliance activities in relation to SOX, FCPA and Internal audit.

Manager, Financial Reporting & Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and manage the production of interim / annual financial statements and daily workflow maintaining the highest quality, reliability and accuracy
  • Propose and/or implement procedural changes to improve performance of the department
  • Manage monthly closing process, including reconciliations and analysis of related accounts
  • Coordinate the Company’s independent auditors
  • Develop and maintain the integrity of the financial reporting process and financial control
  • Co-ordinate, develop and update policies and procedures for the financial reporting process
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting
  • Designs and develops financial information reports to provide current, important, and relevant information for senior managers in the business areas in order to assist them in assessing their resources and making sound business decisions.
  • Develops and reviews program and project reports to respond in a timely and accurate manner to internal and external data requests
  • Determines most effective methods for generating data, analyzes the information utilizing knowledge of the Commission’s programs and projects, and uses judgment to strategically present the data suitable for the target audience.
  • In consultation with IT and other business areas as required, manages the creation of new financial reports that respond to the needs of today’s environment where immediate access to, and analysis of large data sets is the expectation. Identifies business requirements, develops report mockups, and conducts user acceptance testing.
  • Analyze monthly financial and operating results, isolating and explaining key variance items; identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for maximizing opportunities.
  • Provide day-to-day support in the development of tools, templates, pricing models and financial models to assist in general decision making and in support of operational performance that align with company goals.
  • Respond to all queries from all departments in the matters pertaining to expenditures.
  • To counsel and train all departments on proper systems use and interpretation of information.

    Manager, Financial Reporting & Compliance Qualifications:

  • University Degree: Accounting Economics or Commerce
  • MBA or Professional Designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA)
  • 3+ years of related experience; excellent analytical skills; strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Experience with SAP or other recognized ERP software; Oracle HFM or other Business Intelligence software and Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, detailed oriented and relentless in pursuit of process improvement
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships while being viewed as a trusted and fair source of analytics and support
  • Ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers
  • Able to adapt to a constantly changing & performance driven environment
  • Some travel required on an as needed basis
