The Role:

  • Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency.
  • Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
  • Demonstrate effective organizational skills and handling multiple tasks independently with limited supervision.
  • Support for all plant safety initiatives.
  • Instigate studies and actions to resolve technical problems, reduce waste and improve team performance.
  • Assist with mechanical improvements through TPM, P.M., and Capital Expenditure Projects.
  • Maintain/update mechanical and site drawings thru the preferred CAD package.
  • Assist in the commissioning of new plant and equipment and other systems to ensure that the introduction into the production facility is handled efficiently and within minimum disruption.
  • Lead studies and actions to improve the efficiency of the plant facility service area and maintain plant assets.
  • Guarantee that process standards correspond to the plant’s objectives, costs and supply in order to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Travel required, approx twice per year.
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • 3 to 5 years related engineering experience required
  • P.Eng. License preferred
  • Automotive manufacturing experience an asset
  • Strong CAD skills required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated individual capable of multi-tasking and working well under pressure
