Adecco is currently recruiting for a full-time Mechanical Engineer to work a long-term contract at a well-established energy company majoring in the production of synthetic crude from oil sands in Fort McMurray, AB. In this role, you will be responsible for the reliability and prompt return to service on discipline-specific equipment.

  • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct investigation and provide mitigation and correction to prevent a recurrence.
  • Support the team in day-to-day operations while leveraging reliability engineers for complex situations
  • During outages or major events, keep tabs on the work even during weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Perform day-to-day advisory influence, including prioritizing maintenance activities with the maintenance group
  • Provide recommendations to repair or replace equipment based on assessed damage
  • Work with Reliability Engineers to ensure high-impact/high-cost recommendations are sound and fit for purpose.
  • Work with the Area manager to ensure that change management activities, including the creation, tracking, and implementation of all changes are complete and effectively communicated to all impacted personnel.
  • Collaborate in incident investigations relating to equipment failures and ensures all follow-up recommendations are completed
  • Requirements and Qualifications: 
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering is required
  • Must be registered with APEGA for P.Eng or EIT designation
  • Minimum two years of experience in an industry setting is a must
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills to deal with people from every level and background
  • Possess a strong understanding of mechanical assets
  • Knowledge of Oil sand Extraction is preferred
  • Able to collaborate with cross-functional peers (Operators, Maintenance trades, Supervisors, Reliability engineers
  • Resourceful and creative with strong problem-solving skills
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
