Pay Rate: Up to $25/hour

Location: Harry Walker Pkwy S, Newmarket, ON

Shift: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm

Job type: Full time 6 month contract with possibility of extension and permanent placement

    Mechanical Lab Technician responsibilities include:

  • Operation of robotic equipment for process development and customer requirements (wire bonder, die bonder, glue dispensers, ovens, and other equipment)
  • Mixing and dispensing of chemicals and polymers
  • Some documentation required so written English communications skills are an asset
  • Attendance and discussion at weekly department meetings and Tier 1 board updates
  • Analysis of results using optical microscopes and test equipment
  • To qualify, you should have:

  • College or University degree in related field of technician or engineering
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing lab environment
  • Hands-on experience with machine operations and computer use is required
  • Hand soldering experience is also preferred
  • SMT or working in manufacturing will be considered a strong asset
  • Good fine motor hand-eye coordination, dexterous, detail-oriented  
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to evaluate and examine very small defects using optical microscopes for an extended period of time
  • Excellent eyesight required
  • Time management and ability to prioritize tasks according to deadlines
  • Strong general computer skills required including MS-Office
