Adecco is currently hiring for an experienced full-time Mining Geologist or Geological Engineer to work a long term-contract at one of Canada's largest petroleum refiners. In this role, you will be contributing to short- and medium-range mine planning, integrating field observations at the mine site, and providing support for mine feed prediction and reconciliation. This role will also involve collaboration with Calgary-based geoscience and mine technical teams in support of data acquisition and QC, geologic modelling and stratigraphic interpretations that support field execution.

Shifts: 14 days on, 14 days 0ff | Fly in, Fly out from Calgary or Edmonton

Duties and Responsibilities:
Providing expert geologic input to the mine engineering, ore processing / extraction, geotechnical and water handling groups in support of mine feed (ore grade, fines content and grain size) prediction / control, and tailings management within the integrated mine plan
Monitoring and documentation of mine feed for internal reporting and regulatory requirements
Providing integrated stratigraphic and ore body interpretations in support of ongoing upgrades to the short-/mid-range mine plans
Data acquisition supporting real-time optimization of mine plans (test pits and bench auguring etc.)
Providing field observations and collaborating with the Calgary-based technical team
Requirements and Qualifications:
B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Geology or a B.Eng., M.Eng. degree in Geological Engineering is required
Experience in oil sands mining operations is a must
Experience in core description, facies mapping and depositional modeling in fluvial-estuarine depositional systems is required
Experience with sequence stratigraphic concepts within the McMurray Formation is also a requirement
Familiar with geotechnical/hydrogeology aspects of mine planning
Familiar with geological modeling
Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
Should have a deep knowledge in in-pit data acquisition techniques
Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
