Our growing client Arcelor Mittal Hamilton East is looking for an Operations Coordinator to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years related experience and the following are the responsibilities:
Reporting to the Sr. Coordinator, Operations, the ideal candidate will supervise and work closely with the production team to ensure that the safety, quality and production plans are adhered to at all times. This non-unionized position requires a versatile leader with excellent communication skills who is experienced in a related role and work environment.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Promote and ensure AMLPC (ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada) Health, Safety & Environment practices are strictly followed. Ensure customer quality standards are adhered to and related issues are responded to in a timely manner. Optimize labour utilization and productivity output to meet the goals. Effectively manage workforce including training, coaching and discipline. Monitor and respond to day-to-day product and process concerns. Develop tools to track and improve productivity. Investigate process, product and equipment failure identifying the root cause and implement corrective actions. Work closely with other departments in problem solving issues. Decision-making and problem solving of any technical or scheduling issues. Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects. Ensure compliance to the Collective Agreement.
Requirements:
Degree/Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Background in Metallurgy would be considered an asset. 5 years of maintenance supervisory/management experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting. Solid understanding of Microsoft Office; experience as an end-user of SAP will be considered an asset. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work effectively and execute with a sense of urgency.
Willingness to work extended shifts during evenings and weekends (this position qualifies for paid overtime) Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships in a work environment.
Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills.
Experience working under the terms of collective agreements would be considered an asset.

Please note this is a permanent position and the salary range is 82K-88K depending on experience.
