Adecco is looking for a Payroll coordinator to start ASAP with one of our Insurance company clients in Waterloo, ON. This is a 6 month contract and pays $24.00/hr

The ideal candidate must have CPA or APA Certification or in progress, full payroll processing experience in a large company/high volume experience and available to start ASAP.

Job Description - Payroll Coordinator
Human Resources (HR) Administration Services, North America which is a new department within Global HR Client Services, provides HR administration services for payroll and workforce administration for employees in North America.

As a member of the Payroll Services team the Payroll Coordinator will assist with day to day payroll and administrative duties. In this busy and fast-paced team you will be working to tight deadlines with high volumes of work.

Payroll coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Calculate and process transactions included in the Gross to Net payroll including: regular pay (salary), incentive payments, one-time payments, termination pay (voluntary & involuntary), vacation on termination, leave payments, overpayments & recovery, voluntary deductions, garnishments, employee tax set-up, record of employee (ROE), etc
  • Payroll processing including: semi-monthly timesheet processing and adjustments
  • Research, resolve and respond to escalated payroll enquiries
  • Ad-hoc duties as instructed

Payroll coordinator Qualifications:

  • CPA or APA Certification or in progress
  • Working knowledge of payroll processing, tax principles, wage & hours legislation
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to focus in a busy environment
  • Good verbal & written communication skills
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, efficiency and ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to follow complex verbal & written direction and instructions

PLEASE NOTE - This is a team environment and the expectation is, regardless of title you will be required to cover for team members during vacations and time off.

• Who will they report to (title)? Payroll Manager

• What software / hardware / methodologies will they need to have experience with? Laptop, VPN, shared drive, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, ADP, Canadian Payroll Association, Canada Revenue Agency, Services Canada

• Any certain education required (i.e. computer science degree, business degree, etc.) Canadian Payroll Designation

• How many years of experience are required? [minimum 3 years large company (multi-jurisdictional)

• What are your top 3 must-haves? full payroll processing experience, large company/high volume experience, payroll certification

• Will they be asked to do any case studies or assessments/testing during or after the interview? Payroll knowledge test
