Payroll Supervisor

Adecco is currently hiring for a permanent, full-time Payroll Supervisor in Whitehorse, Yukon, to work for a reputable government institution. In this role, the Payroll Supervisor will be responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and evaluating the payroll activities and must have a thorough understanding of accounting as it relates to this area of responsibility.

  • Pay rate: $74,492.60- 87,633/annually
  • Location: Whitehorse, Yukon
  • Shifts: Monday to Friday | 8:30 AM- 4:30 PM
  • Job type: Full-time | Permanent
  • Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, evaluate, process and supervise payroll activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information and compliance with governing legislation and collective agreements
  • Compile statistics and prepare accurate and timely financial reports including cost estimates
  • Oversee, review, evaluate, implement and maintain accounting procedures and records in relation to payroll activities and make recommendations
  • Provide leadership role and participate in payroll activities by reviewing, revising, evaluating and communicating payroll policies, procedures and legislation in addition to providing payroll training as required
  • Supervise and provide leadership in all human resource areas, including recruitment, training and performance management
  • Participate in complex payroll activities and resolve disputes
  • Respond to inquiries from staff and authorized third parties in relation to payroll matters, benefit plans, collective agreement provisions, leave entitlements and payroll legislation
  • Oversee and maintain payroll ERP system software from a financial perspective
  • Follow established safety procedures and standards
  • Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Business Administration or Accounting diploma plus Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) practitioner certification
  • 5 years previous related experience including 2 years at a supervisory level
  • 1 year on the job training
  • Comprehensive knowledge of collective agreements and payroll legislation
  • Proven skills working with computerized financial systems software
  • Excellent organizational skills, prioritizing and ability to multitask with minimal supervision
  • Excellent skills relating to communications, team building, human relations, research and problem solving
  • Proven written and oral communication skills to develop and present reports and proposals
  • Ability to foster and maintain effective relationships among peers and/or stakeholders
