Adecco is currently hiring a Principal Design Quality Engineer for our Medical Manufacturer in Ottawa West. This is a full-time contract for approximately 1 year with potential for extension. Compensation to be determined based on experience.

Principal Design Quality Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Apply scientific knowledge, engineering knowledge, mathematics and ingenuity to complete moderately complex assignments with little or no supervision.
  • Independently, or lead a project team to, identify, plan and conduct medium-size projects requiring a combination of conventional and custom, risk-managed execution plans, investigations and/or equipment; manages multiple, often concurrent projects.
  • Lead complex technical projects with inter-coordinating elements where problem resolution may involve the application of new methods and/or approaches and may require consideration of impact with other system components and/or users.
  • Lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams to support organizational goals.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) or independent technical expert (ITE) on a subset or select subsets of a project’s technical matters; may interface with external firms or agencies.
  • Responsible for completing documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with business standards.
  • Understand and comply with applicable EHS policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining effectiveness of Quality System.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Principal Design Quality Engineer Requirements:

  • B.Sc. in science or engineering
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience
  • Manufacturing environment experience is an asset
  • Strong technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of inspection methods in design, fabrication and production of electronic equipment. Demonstrated skill in using test and measuring equipment. Working knowledge of GMP, ISO standards, FDA regulations, and Health Canada.
  • Membership on the American Society of Quality Control (ASQ) or Society of Reliability Engineers is an asset.
  • Ability or aptitude to work on problems that are complex in scope where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors.
  • Ability to work independently and in groups, ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills; critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability or aptitude to use various types of databases and other computer software.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability or aptitude to provide solutions and contingency plans through the comprehensive review of alternatives.
  • Ability to quickly gain knowledge, understanding or skills and willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels in the organization.
