Adecco is currently recruiting for a full-time Process Engineer in Calgary, AB, to work a long-term contract at a well-established energy company majoring in the production of synthetic crude from oil sands. In this diverse role, you will be responsible for providing engineering support for well pad development, execution, Commissioning and Start-up.
Location: Calgary, AB, with monthly visits to Northern Alberta
Shifts: Monday - Friday
Job type: Full-time | Contract
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with multiple stakeholders such as, Regional Development, Operations, Reliability, In-Situ Resources, Project, and EPC house
Support Field Development Plan based on Long Range Plan and provide strategic road map based on Facility and pipelines constraint and optimization. This involves identification of constraints in existing infrastructure
Ensure seamless integration of new pads to the existing infrastructure
Review, clarify, and provide input to Asset Design Criteria prepared by Reservoir and Production Engineering
Perform concept studies and develop scope definition and design basis for DBM
Identify and develop supplemental studies for potential process scheme improvement and cost saving
Ensure the design of well pads and pipelines are safe, operable, reliable, and cost effective and that they meet the owners’ expectations and regulatory requirements
Identify, address, and resolve design issues
Review and approve project deliverables during DBM, FEED and Detailed Engineering such as PFD, H&MB, P&ID Process Description, Control Philosophy and Narrative, Cause and Effect, LDT Alarm Range Summary, Battery limit table, and tie-in list etc
Participate in Design reviews, Process Hazard Analysis, Model Review, Squad Checks and respond to queries during different stages of the project
Publish safe operating limits, Review start- up plan, PSSR, commissioning procedure and operating procedure
Support MOC process in terms of risk assessment and prepare and authenticate process engineering deliverables
Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering is required
Minimum 10 years in an engineering or operations related position with prior exposure to thermal heavy oil facility design or operations is a must
SAGD well pad facility and pipelines design experience is also required
Professional Engineering License with APEGA
Possess an understanding of and ability to develop process simulations & heat and material balances, PFD, P &ID and other process engineering deliverables
Proficient in hydraulic calculations, equipment, pipeline, relief system sizing and evaluation
Excellent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office suite, MS Excel with macro, and process simulation software such as HYSYS AND PIPESIM
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
High level of organization, interpersonal, and communication skills
Able to interface with multiple internal and external parties to achieve optimal results for the organization
Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
