Adecco is currently recruiting for a full-time Process Operator in Fort McMurray, AB, to work a long-term contract at a well-established energy company majoring in the production of synthetic crude from oil sands. Among other responsibilities, you will be responsible for performing daily monitoring and troubleshooting of operating equipment and processes.

  • Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field tours, observations and vessel inspections of various equipment as needed
  • Provide maintenance support including process inspections, process studies and evaluations from inspection findings and pre-startup safety reviews
  • Perform routine operating tasks (i.e. monitor levels, temperatures, pressures, etc.).
  • Monitor operating area for abnormal conditions
  • Perform basic troubleshooting
  • Perform proper sampling as required
  • Assist in the preparation of equipment for maintenance
  • Create notifications to initiate equipment/unit repairs
  • Requirements and Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in some or all of the following areas: operating experience with large boilers, steam turbines, pumps, compressors, cooling towers, demineralized and water treatment systems
  • Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate is required
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience in a large Power Plant or Refinery or Water Plant
  • Effective Analytical skills and communication skills are crucial for success
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, such as Word and Excel
  • Must be local to Fort McMurray, or willing to relocate
  • Must be willing and able to work a rotating shift schedule consisting of day, night and weekend shifts
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
