The Role:

  • Manage shop floor performance
  • Accountable for manufacturing metrics for their shift.
  • Conduct required audits as necessary – SOP, safety, 5S, Process etc…
  • Conduct regular employee communication meetings on shift.
  • Track training for all hourly employees on shift
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity relating to product, process and quality system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels. Verify the implementation of solutions. Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Ensure production flow of processes by reducing/eliminating bottlenecks on a shift by shift basis.
  • Manning/Scheduling: Ensure shift is properly manned by qualified employees. Work with Gate House Attendant regarding any absent employees and open positions on shift.
  • Responsible for ensuring manning of overtime vacancies through proper application of the collective agreement
  • Communicate any changes in manning to payroll to ensure employees are properly paid
  • Follow up with employees regarding absenteeism
  • Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education - Mechanical Engineering Technologist would be an asset
  • 5 plus years’ experience supervising in a unionized manufacturing environment
  • Automotive experience is an asset
  • Previous shift work experience is an asset
