General Description

 

The Project Analyst performs various project control and support activities in accordance with the organization’s project management practices. This temporary role is primarily to support overflow projects and programs that are beyond the organization’s typical/historical delivery mandate.

 

Experience and Role Accountabilities

 

Minimum four years of project related work experience (or equivalent). Project management work experience is an added bonus.

 

Performs project control and support activities with attention to detail, thoroughness, accuracy and timeliness.

 

Process-minded and able to perform routine project control and support activities with consistency.

 

Excellent time management and prioritization skills to balance multiple project assignments.

 

Strong analytical and problem solving skills, numeracy, and proficiency with financial concepts (e.g., budgets, forecasts, variances).

 

Proficient with data entry and possessing a general knowledge of business applications and office productivity tools (e.g., financial/contract/work management software, spreadsheet/Excel tools). Experience with SAP (Projects module) and Passport is an added bonus.

 

Communicates professionally with team members, vendors and internal/external stakeholders. Written/email correspondence is clear and concise.

 

Supports the Project Manager with project initiation by building/setting-up projects within enterprise project management tools. Performs this activity at high-scale/volume depending on the influx of overflow projects.

 

Supports the Project Manager in establishing key milestones in enterprise project management tools, and tracking/updating/reporting on those milestones. Brings schedule deviations and delays against project plan to the attention of the Project Manager.

 

Performs project control function to support the Project Manager with financial management activities such as creating/maintaining work breakdown structures, forecasting, monitoring costs, routine and ad-hoc reporting, variance analysis, investigating and/or reconciling project charges, and scenario analysis. Brings cost deviations, under or over spend, to the attention of the Project Manager.

 

Performs complex project administration activities related to contract management, work orders, and material requests where continuity over project design or project implementation phase is required. Performs this activity at high-scale/volume depending on the influx of overflow projects.

 

Supports the team and participates in process improvement activities such as creating/maintaining departmental procedures and templates, creating/maintaining quality checklists, streamlining reporting processes/tools, and supporting design/testing of refinements to enterprise tools.

 

Supports the Project Manager with project close by winding-down projects within enterprise project management tools. Performs this activity at high-scale/volume depending on the completion of overflow projects.

 

Creates/maintains/files various project documents and/or records. Creates/maintains/administers project workspaces. Experience with Sharepoint is an added bonus.

 

Attends project or team meetings as required.

 

Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above activities that do not affect the rating of the job.

 

Education and Skills

 

Degree in Business or a related field such as Engineering, Science, Technology or an equivalent combination of experience, training and education.

 

Four years of project related experience or equivalent. Project Management training and/or certification is an added bonus.

 

Intermediate skills with business applications and office productivity tools. Experience with SAP (Projects module), Passport, and Microsoft Office is an added bonus.

 

Advanced communication skills and proficiency in English, written and spoken, suitable for a professional environment.
