The Public Safety Risk Advisor promotes public safety by assisting in the development of risk-informed public safety strategies; ensuring the application and execution of risk-informed decision making (RIDM) for our client is consistent with best practices; supporting our client in building internal capability and capacity to apply advanced risk assessment methodologies; acting as the Senior Subject Matter Expert for the Risk Advisory Team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports the ongoing administration of the TSSA Act and regulations by supporting the creation, implementation, and on-going application of the Risk Informed Decision Making (RIDM) framework and analyzing and measuring performance outcomes relating to public safety regulatory activities/practices
Identifies public safety and quality assurance gaps; analyzes and makes recommendations regarding the ongoing refinement and development of performance standards and practices
Contributes to the corporate high-performance team by designing, implementing, analyzing, and measuring public safety decision support systems (e.g., business processes, QA systems, tools, models)
Identifies process gaps; analyzes inspection and engineering activities and recommends improvements in process improvement, optimization, and safety issue management support
Promotes public safety by assisting in the development of risk-informed public safety strategies; ensuring that the application and execution of risk-informed decision making (RIDM) for our client is consistent with best practice; supporting our client in building internal capability and capacity to apply advanced risk assessment methodologies; acting as the subject matter expert for the risk advisory team
Requirements and Qualifications:
Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
3-4 years of relevant experience
Requires engineering University degree, preferably in Mechanical, Chemical engineering
Experience working with risk assessments methodologies (FMEA, LOPA, What If? RCA) technical safety
Knowledge on Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA)
Advanced mathematical and statistical skills in modeling with techniques related to the collection of data its organization, validation, and analysis
Advanced software application proficiency in Microsoft Office
Risk Identification software applications (PHA Pro 8, FMEA Pro 8)
Advance level analytical and investigative skills
Professional verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated capabilities to present, facilitate, and influence
Strong project management skills
Effective troubleshooting skills
