 Adecco is currently hiring for a temporary, full-time Purchaser, to work at a well-established food company in Richmond, BC. In this role, you will be utilizing your expert knowledge to purchase goods and services, mainly related to maintenance/cross functional team, that meet quality requirements and specifications at the most favorable price for the company, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers.   • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Source, negotiate, contract and execute agreements to fulfill day-to-day business needs, primarily for high-value specialty materials & services not available on existing agreements and submitting daily work reports to the manager
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the purchasing activities of the Maintenance and other departments.
  • Working 60% time in the office and 40% time in MRO stores for inventory management in coordination with MRO stores specialists and sending daily reports for jobs done
  • Liaise with maintenance stores specialists, maintenance planner and maintenance supervisors to ensure min-max level for all critical spares is maintained
  • Identify and explore alternate vendors for materials, equipment, or supplies for cost optimization
  • Evaluate the cost and quality of goods or services and keep records of all purchasing documents
  • Assist maintenance specialists/stores in inventory physical cycle counting
  • Negotiate purchase contracts tracking records and presenting them to the maintenance manager weekly
  • Maintain an up-to-date database for all orders and provide information for analysis and reporting to the maintenance manager.
  • Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize the impact on the organization.
  • Perform other duties as necessary 
  • Requirements and Qualifications: 
  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is needed
  • 2 years of progressive experience in a purchasing role is a must
  • Working knowledge of food industry maintenance requirements and best practices is preferred
  • Should have strong budget management skills, and proven success in a supervisory, management, or leadership role in Purchasing
  • Inventory management and CMMS (ERP/SAP) experience is a must
  • Comprehensive experience drafting vendor agreements including the ability to strategically assess and mitigate risk with vendors and suppliers through well-structured agreements
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key business partners
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
