Our client in Ottawa West is currently looking for a R&D Operator to join their team. This is a temporary opportunity for approximately one year with possibility of extension. The hours will be Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5pm. Hourly rate of pay will be determined based on level of experience.

R&D Operator Responsibilities:

  • Assist with cartridge related activities, which primarily involves cartridge assembly but possibly also cartridge testing, as required to support R&D project and other business deliverables
  • Monitor supplies required for R&D operation and update inventory to assure uninterrupted supply for assembly work
  • Assist with EHS lab related initiatives such as chemical inventory control and participation in various site inspections
  • Communicate as well as interface with various stakeholders to meet their needs in relation to cartridge development activities and overall laboratory management. This requires a good deal of flexibility and the capacity to manage a fluctuating workload

R&D Operator Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ensuring that work accomplished is accurate in all relevant aspects
  • Acquiring and demonstrating knowledge of health and safety procedures as they related to the human resources of the organization
  • Effectively adapting to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and sudden of frequent changes in priority in order to accomplish objectives
  • Staying motivated even when faced with inevitable delays, setbacks, policy shifts, repetitive tasks and disappointment
  • Emphasizing technical resources, applying them effectively, and keeping abreast of the latest development in new technologies to assess their possible application within the work place

R&D Operator Desired Skills:

  • Experience working within a laboratory setting (>1 year) – required
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change and work independently with minimal supervision – required
  • Ability to handle a large amount of work efficiently and effectively – required
  • Ability to work accurately and precisely – required
  • Adheres and advocates to highest safety standards – required
  • Ability to train peers on new procedures or processes – required
  • Ability to acquire and demonstrate knowledge of health and safety procedures as they relate to the human resources of the organization – required
  • Ability to effectively adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and sudden or frequent changes in priority in order to accomplish objectives – required
  • Experience working with analytical equipment (>1 year) – an asset
  • Experience working within a regulated laboratory environment – an asset
  • Experience writing/preparing operational procedures, forms and templates – an asset
  • Obtained and applied previous safety training – an asset
  • Desired Information Technology skills
  • Proficient with Office Suite applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) – required
  • Experience working with MS Excel (intermediate or better) – required
  • General computer literacy required
  • Experience with Excel VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) – an asset
  • Experience with computer programming and database creation – an asset
  • Experience with inventory management – an asset
  • Experience in training others – an asset
