Our client, an Ottawa based labour organization, has an opening for a records and information management specialist to join their administrative support team. The opportunity will initially be for a one year period commencing no later than July 1st ,2019 although there is the potential that the contract may be extended beyond that date. Reporting to the President and the Secretary Treasurer of the organization, the successful candidate should be a graduate of an accredited library science or information management program and must have a strong work history (two to five years of experience) in the area of records and database management. As they will be joining a small and established support staff team, the successful candidate must be able and willing to work as a member of a team in order to better serve the needs of the organizations members. The general duties of the contract position will be to: Develop and implement a comprehensive records management policy for the organization which will address issues of file numbering, record retention, record destruction and file access; Assist with the transfer of existing records to the newly created file numbering system; Develop and implement a plan for digitizing the records of the organization and assist with digitizing existing records; Design, implement and train the organizations existing staff to use a database designed to track member information including correspondence, dues payments and other financial transactions, and grievance steps; Design and implement user friendly electronic workflows to assist staff and elected union officials to perform routine tasks; Provide general administrative support to the organization and its elected leadership as may be required. The salary range for the position will be between $50,000 and $60,000 annually depending on past experience and academic qualifications.
