The Safety Coordinator is responsible for activities, including compliance and governance of the manufacturing site while working closely and in partnership with the Safety Leader to proactively develop, implement, train and maintain safety initiatives.

The Safety Coordinator reports to the Safety Leader. The hours of work are normal business hours.  This is an on site position, no working remotely.  Business needs may require changing of hours and/or overtime with approval.  Our client is a unionized environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect work environment to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Prepares reports and ensures corrective action is taken when deficiencies are identified, posting metrics within the plant.
  • Report safety violations and injuries to the appropriate authorities.
  • Administrative responsibilities are a large part of this role supporting the Safety Leader.
  • Provide health and safety training to all employees and maintain records as directed.
  • May be required to provide safety material for daily Toolbox meetings
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with  employees and contractors.
  • Communicate changes in operations, policies, and procedures to relevant parties
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

  • Occupational Health & Safety Degree, Diploma, or Certificate would be an asset. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ of Manufacturing experience would be an asset.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry Safety Regulations and Standards is required
  • Trained in Emergency First Aid an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • No travel required for this role.
  • Salary depends upon experience.
