Our client is a leader in the design and manufacturing of high-quality green houses.  We provide a complete range of innovative greenhouse design and requirements that are used by production growers, nurseries, and retail centers across North America.  As part of the Team, we have an opening for a CAD Designer working at our Simcoe, ON location.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Senior CAD Designer will work with the team to develop and set up detailed plans and 3-D models, showing arrangements of walls, dividers, displays, lighting, and other fixtures.  Develop plans, elevations, cross sections, and detailed drawings.  Provide estimated costs of projects and detailed specifications. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Design or redesign complex layouts and drawings from general written or verbal specifications from team members
  • Produce CAD drawings for new or improved products using industry, departmental and discipline standards
  • Work with other teams to obtain reference information for drawings
  • Work with project team to execute projects on time and on budget
  • Review design layouts to find and resolve problems involving compatibility with basic design concepts
  • Read and understand tenders and technical standards
  • Issue drawings complaint with manufacturing practices
  • Read and understand 3-D drawings
  • Read and understand blueprint, schematics and drawings
  • Make corrections to drawings as requested
  • Able to assist in training of fellow team members
  • Other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • College diploma – Engineering Technologist an asset
  • 6-10 years’ experience CAD software (AutoCAD; 3D graphic, etc.)
  • Mechanical design (general), construction
  • High attention to detail
