Adecco is currently recruiting a full-time Senior Project Engineer, to work a 1-year contract at a well-established energy company majoring in the production of synthetic crude from oil sands. The ideal candidate must have 7 to 10 years of work experience within the Oil & Gas industry and is local to Fort McMurray or willing to relocate.

  • Location: Fort McMurray, AB
  • Job type: Full-time | 1-year Contract with the possibility of extension
  • Shifts: Monday – Friday| 8 hours per day
  • Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Applies professional knowledge in initiating and/or conducting complex assignments requiring modification of established guidelines and procedures
  • Demonstrates development of original ideas, viewpoints or innovative solutions
  • Executes action plans that often include changing processes as a means of achieving objectives and identifies risks and corrective alternative actions
  • Leads or works collaboratively in teams to develop plans to achieve long-term objectives or implement corporate strategies
  • Facilitates learning from past experiences and mistakes
  • Employs management of change in the implementation process to achieve a high level of buy-in for recommendations from all involved parties
  • Ensures Process Safety, Value Engineering and Safety Design principles in the development of design
  • Contributes to the development of strategies to manage Engineering Quality of Deliverable and Assets
  • Works under general direction/guidance receiving broad direction from management
  • May assign and monitor the work of other engineers and technical staff - may serve as a mentor
  • Utilizes a balance of intuitive and rational decision-making to achieve the best solution.
  • Incorporates the human element in the decision-making process and utilizes collaborative and consensus-making decision processes as part of the team
  • Sets reasonable objectives and plans to achieve them in the long term (1-3 years)
  • Requirements and Qualifications: 

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Applied Science from a Canadian University or equivalent is needed
  • Minimum 7-10 years of work experience within Oil & Gas industry is a must.
  • Must be a registered Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineer or eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • Must be local to fort McMurray or willing to relocate. No camp accommodation or subsistence provided for this position
  • Able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop, evaluate and implement solutions
  • Should have a comprehensive knowledge of industry codes, company standards and safety policies
  • Able to balance innovation & risk
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
