Senior Software Engineer - Remote


Our client in Ottawa West is currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their team. This is a full-time remote two-year contract opportunity with a potential of extension. A successful candidate will work with multidisciplinary project teams to design and implement embedded software and instrument systems solutions in assay product discovery and development phases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply scientific knowledge, engineering knowledge, mathematics and ingenuity to complete moderately complex engineering assignments with little or no supervision.
• Independently plan and conduct medium-sized assigned projects requiring conventional types of plans, manages multiple, and often concurrent, projects.
• Analyze complex problems and identify their impact, establish probabilities, draw conclusions reflecting broad business needs; set complex design and process requirements.
• Responsible for completing documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with business standards.
• Lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams to support organizational goals.
• Understand and comply with applicable EHS policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
• Responsible for implementing and maintaining effectiveness of Quality System.
• Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Experience and Education:

Undergraduate university Degree (4-year program), or equivalent experience (e.g. B.Sc., B. Eng) in Engineering, Science, or related discipline

• Typically requires 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Equivalent technical experience and demonstrated competence are acceptable as an alternative to education.
• Additional post-graduate education may contribute toward desired years of experience.
• Some experience or exposure to a manufacturing environment is an asset.
• Engineers trained in one branch of the Engineering field may work in related branches of engineering provided demonstrated transferable skills.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Demonstrated technical competency and working technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices and procedures. Working knowledge in:

  • C#
  • ASP .NET Web Application development
  • SQL scripting
  • HTML and CSS development
  • Amazon AWS Elastic Beanstalk
  • Unit Testing
  • Additional skills which would be an advantage:

  • R language
  • Amazon AWS (S3, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, EC2, LightSail, Lambda, RDS)
  • Database administration
  • • Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills; critical-thinking skills.
    • Ability or aptitude to use various types of databases and other computer software.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills.

    • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts is an asset.
