General Labourer TEMPORARY (Long Term)

This General Labourer is responsible for the overall maintenance and cleanliness of a busy 30,000 square foot shop, basic yard and building maintenance assisting the shipping and receiving department with daily tasks.

The successful candidate must have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated and be willing and able to work in all weather conditions.

General Labourer key responsibilities under the direction of the Lead Hand include:

  • Maintain yard cleanliness, including organizing excess material, removal of litter and debris, weeding, lawn mowing and snow clearing
  • Maintain shop cleanliness including basic janitorial duties such as garbage and recycling removal, using a floor sweeper to ensure the shop floor is clear of dust, debris and spills
  • Performing a variety of manual tasks related to receiving, storing and cutting of materials used in manufacturing projects
  • Safely operate various tools, machines and equipment normally related to Shipping and Receiving and that support entire shop operations
  • Loading and unloading trucks, in house and while picking up and delivering parts using company truck and trailer
  • Using computer system to enter and record materials, ensuring attention to detail, organization and documentation

Ideal qualifications will include:

  • High School diploma preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid Operator’s License (Class 5) with a clean Driver’s Abstract and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely, climb ladders / stairs, stand for long periods of time
  • Experience operating various equipment and machines, including forklift, skid steer, overhead crane, ride on and push mower, snow blower, floor sweeper
