Our client is a Top Insurance company and they are looking for an action - oriented individual with strong team building, relationship management, and problem solving skills to join its fast paced team as a Short Term Disability Case Manager on a contract basis. This is a 12 months contract with a high chance of extension and pays $24.50/hr

In this role, you will be responsible for managing short term disability claims from intake to payment. This function includes key accountabilities that require a strong commitment to quality, and business knowledge. Your strong communication skills will help you succeed as you develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

On a typical day, you could expect to accomplish the resolution of short term disability claims, address escalated client concerns, and develop case management plans to either facilitate a Return to Work program or a transition to a long term disability option. 

As a Disability Case Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up new short term disability claims. This function will include contractual interpretation and accurate data entry
  • Making decisions on and payment of Short Term Disability claims using contractual, medical, functional, and vocational analysis
  • Frequent written and verbal communication to clients and stakeholders within and outside of the medical community, plan members and plan administrators
  • Maintain productive relationships with internal stakeholders to maintain service level targets
  • Constant prioritization of conflicting demands with extremely tight turn around times
Disability Case Manager Qualifications: 
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • A focused attention to detail particularly with numbers, spelling and grammar
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively deliver difficult messages to clients by telephone and in the form of very detailed letters of explanation 
  • The skills to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast paced environment
  • Intermediate PC skills including data entry, MS Word and MS Excel
  • Strong customer service experience, with proven ability to build and manage relationships with external and internal clients.
