Our Client, located in Kanata, is currently hiring experienced SMT Operators. We currently have openings on the Night shift (12am – 7:30am). This client offers competitive salary based on level of experience and shift.

With general supervision, the SMT Operator carries out the broadest variety, or most complex tasks in a highly structured, repetitive environment. A key part of this role is to either demonstrate the most complex production tasks in a consistent manner, to produce and/or test a high volume of quality product in the shortest possible time, and/or to maintain aggressive production schedules. Alternatively, this role may be extremely flexible to work on most or all products and processes within the manufacturing operation, dependent upon the need within the production schedule.

SMT Operator Responsibilities:

- Setup and operation of SMT equipment with the responsibility of manufacturing high quality product according to specific drawings, procedures and process documentation, while maximizing line productivity.
- Pays attention to process controls and process inputs as required to monitor product quality, including Statistical Process Control, process improvements and line optimization as they relate to the SMT process.
- Conducts product inspection according to specific procedures.
- Uses PC-based software tools for setups, maintains component and machine specific databases as new devices and shape codes are introduced.
- Interfaces with Engineering and other support groups with regard to line problems and process improvements.

SMT Operator Duties:

- Loads and unloads feeders.
- Loads SMT carriages.
- Inventory Management.
- Performs cycle counts.
- May assist in Mechanical Assembly, Packaging and other areas if required.

SMT Operator Requirements:

- 3 years- experience in a specialized skill involving complex automated production equipment and/or processes.
- General SMT experience/knowledge, including Pick & Place, Screen Print and Reflow.
- Familiar with PCs, including Windows and other software tools.
- Attention to detail and process control, including the ability to clearly document changes and observations.
- Good team player with a self starter approach.
- Requires ability to convey good verbal and/or written information.

SMT Operator Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with Fuji and Universal equipment an asset.
- Knowledge of PCB handling, ESD practices, and IPC-610 standards.
- 26-week college course in Electronics Assembly.
