Adecco is currently hiring for experienced Solderers with a manufacturing company in Ottawa West (Kanata). Flexibility for shift work is preferred. We are offering Full Time Hours on a long term contract, potential to be hired on permanently based on performance and business needs. Wages range from $16 to $20 per hour depending on experience.

Under close supervision, the Solderer carries out assigned tasks in a highly structured, repetitive environment. A key part of this role is to learn focused tasks well, and repeat these tasks to produce a high volume of quality product in the shortest possible time, to maintain aggressive production schedules.

Solderer Job Duties:


  • Solders sensitive optical devices.
  • Independently assembles components according to specific drawings and procedures and process documentation.
  • Independently provides support to the Manufacturing Team Lead.
  • Identifies, articulates and escalates problems or issues for Technical Support or Engineering, and assists in gathering requested information and proof necessary to help establish the root cause of problems and determine corrective action.
  • Recognizes discrepancies in documentation or problems with quality, product or process, and recommends changes.
  • Conducts product inspection, documenting as required, according to specific procedures.
  • Uses a variety of current software to properly execute required computer transactions, such as SFDC, Agile, and Excel.
  • Properly executes on inventory control, cycle counting, and computer transactions.
  • Ability to utilize, understand and follow Kitting protocols for planned and customized orders.
  • Orders and ensures any printed labels are correct and transacted to the correct planned order on tracker.
  • Works with Engineering to implement continuous improvement.
  • Identifies, reads/interprets and reworks according to complex ECO modifications or other instructions.
  • Interprets rework/repair instructions from Debug Technicians and Engineering.
  • Records data on a daily basis.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures and performance standards.
  • Provides training and guidance to less experienced team members.
  • May be required to prepare components and/or wire.
  • Supports other company requirements when necessary.


Solderer Requirements:

  • 1 year experience in a soldering position
  • Generally requires 26 week college course in Electronics Assembly, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English needed to escalate issues to team leads, engineering and other departments.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Demonstrated capability in all aspects of the area.
  • Ability to read, understand and apply process documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel to record data.
  • Ability to solder complex PCBs, use torque hand tools, microscope, soldering/de-soldering equipment.
  • Soldering  IPC-7711/7721 rework, repair and modification of printed boards and electronic assemblies.
  • Soldering  J-STD-001 requirements for soldered electrical and electronic assemblies.
  • Soldering  IPC-A-610E electronic assembly acceptability.
  • Demands prolonged sitting, microscope, visual acuity, manual dexterity, lifting and carrying, attention to detail, good hand/eye coordination.
  • Equipment: Computer, soldering iron, microscope, DRS machine, torque tools.
  • Hazards: working with solder, flux and other chemicals, optical fibre, laser safety.
