Sr. Financial Reporting Accountant l $65K+ - $75K+Full Benefits l Burnaby, BC l Permanent

Adecco has partnered with a reputable telecommunications company that is seeking for a Sr. Financial Reporting Accountant to play a key role in management reporting, tax and compliance with accounting guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities:



Prepare and assist with the review of recurring reporting packages to include cash flow forecast, financial statements, analysis, commentary and year-end note disclosures
Ensure that assets, liabilities, revenue, expenses and cash flows are accounted for according to IFRS and corporate policies, thereby ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial results
Maintain a financial close calendar to inform parties of necessary deadline adherence
Prepare and analyze financial data as needed or requested, by different departments based on end-user needs
Manage the chart of accounts in the financial system
Research, interpretation and application of accounting standards as it relates to accounting policies and specific business transactions to ensure compliance. Prepare technical memorandums.
Assist in the coordination of annual & interim financial audit as well as tax audit
Assist with tax filings
Perform continuous assessment of the close process and process re-engineering to reduce the timing of financial period close
Assist in the review and development of internal controls
Review journal entries and working papers
Supervise 2 Intermediate Accountants
Provide direction for GL coding, payment posting, adjustments and corrections as needed
Investigate issues and resolve problems accordingly, provide financial, statistical or ad hoc analysis and reconciliations when required
Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual Stats Canada surveys.


Requirements:

CPA Designation
Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting environment, including preparation of financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Ability to research and make recommendations on complex accounting issues
Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including prior experience in use of pivot tables, advanced formulas, filtering and organizing large volume of data
Supervisory experience is an asset.
