Adecco is currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time Class 1 Tractor Trailer Driver in Dartmouth, NS to work at a well-established company majoring in the production and export of oil, gasoline and natural gas.  In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient delivery of petroleum products to commercial customers, retail sites, and bulk plants.

  • Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Irving Oil Products to various locations within the required geographical locations. Drive Tractor Trailer Trucks (B-train, cluster / tri-axle, and hose reel) safely, adhering to all DOT regulations and procedures.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure truck is performing to required standards. Maintain familiarity with different trucks/trailers in order to accurately inspect trucks, trailers, tires, pins, lights, etc.
  • Review and plan daily routes using knowledge of geography, routes, zones, streets, etc. Collaborate with the Dispatch team to improve the efficiency of routes by providing recommendations to the delivery schedule, customers that should be clustered together, identify delivery locations that present challenges to delivery, etc.
  • Safely load and unload products from storage facilities while adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Continuously evaluate and make safety decisions on trucks, conditions, products, sites, deliveries, leaks, and any other situations in which the driver feels there may be a safety issue. Report all hazards or unsafe situations that cannot be corrected on their own to the manager. 
  • Complete daily shift reports and all required paperwork with accurate information.
  • Maintain a clean and organized vehicle – inside & outside.
  • Requirements and Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. is required
  • Minimum 2 years Commercial Transportation (Class 1/A) experience is needed
  • Previous experience with liquid loads is considered an asset. Experience with shift work and night shifts is preferred.
  • Valid commercial truck driver's license with a clean Driver's Abstract is a must
  • Class 1 designation with air brakes, WHMIS & Dangerous Goods Certification is needed
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
