Adecco is currently hiring a Chief Engineer - Certified Class 1 Engineer for a full-time permanent role in the manufacturing sector located in Richmond, BC.

In this high-responsibility role, you will lead the safe and efficient operations of the Steam and Gas department. If you are a certified 1st Class Power Engineer, or nearing completion and have leadership experience in mill, forestry, or manufacturing environments, this is a fantastic opportunity to take your career to the next level!

  • Salary: Starting at $150,000/year

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of the Steam and Gas department in line with the BC Power Engineers Act and Regulations

  • Oversee pressure vessel work to ensure compliance with BC Technical Safety standards

  • Develop and implement SOPs for boiler house equipment

  • Lead safety programs, set objectives, and track progress

  • Enforce lock-out procedures and support safe work practices through training and tools

  • Optimize operations for energy efficiency, environmental compliance, and reliability

  • Supervise Shift Engineers and Firemen, delegating tasks to maintain efficient operation

  • Plan and lead annual boiler house maintenance shutdowns

  • Coach and develop departmental staff, fostering a strong and capable team

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada

  • Valid BC 1st Class Power Engineer Certificate OR completion of at least 6 First-Class exams

  • Strong knowledge of high-pressure boilers and auxiliary systems

  • Experience in manufacturing, forestry, or mill industries

  • Proven ability to analyze utility systems and recommend cost-saving measures

  • Strong safety-first mindset and commitment to compliance

  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to shifting business needs
