Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Independent contractor to work as the Commissioning Manager for our client’s team in Kitimat, BC. In this role you will play a key role in the successful implementation and commissioning of major industrial systems related to Alumina material transportation and infrastructure. Ideally, you will be experienced in Project Management with bias toward commissioning, and knowledgeable in all aspects of project commissioning.

You will work closely with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, and Operational Readiness Lead to lead the commissioning process, ensuring systems are delivered on time, on budget, and fully operational.

  • Pay Rate: $168.00/hr

  • Location: Kitimat, BC

  • Shift: 3 weeks on, 1 week off, 10 hours a day

  • Job type: Contract | full-time | 4 months to start with possibility of extension.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the Commissioning and Start Up Execution Plan for the project that clearly defines the activities that will be performed by the Turnkey Contractor team during commissioning to complete the requirements effectively and efficiently for Commissioning and Start Up.

  • Develops the pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and project completion schedules working closely with relevant project team members.

  • Directs the pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, initial operations, and maintenance (O&M), shutdown and emergency procedures during the course Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) project execution.

  • Acts in the owner’s best interest by interacting with internal technical and functional groups and Turnkey Contractor for project success.

  • Perform any other duty related to the safe delivery of the project that may be assigned by the Project Manager or his designate.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 - 20 years’ relevant experience in project management, preferably in Aluminium Smelter, Heavy Industries, Oil & Gas or Petrochemical Industry, specifically infrastructure/construction projects.

  • Excellent understanding of Readiness for Commissioning (RFC) activities, Readiness for Handover (RFHO) activities, Readiness for Start Up (RFSU) activities and Readiness for Operation (RFO) activities.

  • Excellent understanding of Provisional Acceptance Activities (PAC)

  • Experience in the British Columbia is a strong asset

  • Experience in a Managerial capacity (minimum 5 years)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills to interface with Client, subcontractors, and Vendor.

  • Previous experience in leading a Multi-discipline Commissioning Team.

  • Good understanding of various Engineering disciplines.

  • Ability to manage and control project completions team and systems.

  • Ability to review contractual documents and identify project requirements, constraints, and risks.

  • Ability to lead a team of engineers/supervisors for the execution of Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, and start-up activities.

  • Excellent leadership and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to perform under stressful conditions.

  • Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in safety documentation.

  • Self-motivated and well-organized, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks to manage.

  • Relevant professional or technical certification would be considered as an asset.

  • Advanced level interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and across organizational boundaries.

  • Advanced level multi-tasking skills with ability to manage multiple ongoing activities.

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
