Adecco is actively seeking a Comptroller / Bookkeeper to join our client’s team to manage full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting for a respected Indigenous organization in Gold River, BC. This full-time role offers up to $85,000 annually and is ideal for an experienced accounting professional looking to make a meaningful impact. You will ensure accurate financial records, oversee payroll and compliance, lead budget planning, and collaborate with departments to strengthen financial processes and literacy across the organization.

Responsibilities:
- Record and reconcile all AP, AR, payroll, inventory, and fixed asset transactions. Prepare monthly trial balances and adjusting entries.
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual statements aligned with PSAS and funding requirements. Analyze variances and present financial insights to the CFO.
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with departmental managers. Develop multi-year forecasts and monitor variances.
- Maintain internal controls that protect assets and ensure compliance with CRA, ISC, FNHA, and internal policy frameworks. Coordinate external audits and support implementation of findings.
- Partner with HR/Payroll teams to ensure accuracy in timesheets, deductions, remittances, and year-end T4/T4A processing.
- Support ERP upgrades (e.g., Xyntax, Payworks) and drive process optimization across the finance department.
- Mentor junior accounting team members and provide guidance to program managers on financial best practices.
Requirements:
- Legal eligibility to work and reside in Canada.
- A Diploma in Accounting and Bachelor of Commerce (or equivalent)
- A recognized Canadian accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA or in progress) – Preferred
- 5+ years of progressive experience in bookkeeping and senior accounting roles
- Experience producing audited financial statements and managing budgets over $5 million
- Industry experience in First Nations, public sector, or non-profit settings – Strong asset
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in cloud-based accounting platforms (Xyntax and Payworks preferred)
- Must have a clear criminal record check and access to a reliable vehicle
