Adecco is currently hiring a full-time skilled Forklift Operator to safely and efficiently handle lumber, panels, and building materials using gas- or diesel-powered forklifts. Working in both an outdoor yard and indoor warehouse setting, the successful candidate will use an RF scanner to accurately pick, stage, load, and track inventory, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and cleanliness. Responsibilities:
Operate Class 4/5 forklifts (up to 15,000 lbs) to load and unload flatbed trucks, boxcars, and customer vehicles
Navigate narrow aisles, rough surfaces, and varying weather conditions without causing damage to materials or property
Use handheld RF scanners to retrieve pick tickets, locate stock, and stage outbound orders
Confirm product details including SKU, grade, dimensions, and quantity prior to dispatch
Perform routine cycle counts and update inventory data in real time using RF systems
Identify and flag low-stock items or damaged materials for restocking or removal
Stack lumber bundles securely to ensure safety and clear emergency pathways
Secure loads using banding, wrapping, or tarping to prevent damage during transport
Complete pre-shift equipment checks and document findings in daily inspection logs
Follow all safety protocols, including PPE use, proper fuel handling, and lock-out/tag-out procedures
Assist in manual handling of materials up to 50 lbs and provide direction to truck drivers when needed
Train new team members on forklift operations and RF scanning processes when assigned
Qualifications:
Valid forklift certification (Counterbalance / Class 4 or 5) with at least 1 year of experience operating gas or diesel-powered forklifts
Experience in a lumber yard or with building materials is an asset; familiarity with reading lumber specifications and counts is preferred
Competent using RF scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory and order picking
Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform frequent lifting, bending, and climbing
Basic math skills and English literacy; able to complete paperwork clearly and accurately
Strong commitment to workplace safety; WHMIS and TDG knowledge considered an asset
Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
