Responsibilities:
Manages Owner’s site-based Cost and Schedule team including the Contractor team and serve as the central link from the Project to the Contractor Organization.
Prepares project status reports and presentations, highlighting key accomplishments, risks, cost reporting, earned value, change management and changes on a monthly basis.
Oversees scheduling functions to ensure projects meet standards and target completion dates, management of the progression of the Schedule throughout the project life-cycle and contributions to the Baseline Schedule.
Analyzes project costs (project progress monitoring vs actual budget + forecast), conducts the forecast update meeting with the Project Manager, records monthly and yearly accruals, prepare and issue first draft forecasts and reconciles work progress with billed work (unbilled work) on monthly basis.
Oversees and supports project change management, including subcontractor claims, change requests, claims and dispute resolution.
Ensure Project Manager is provided with timeline review and progress of all projects and activity including completion of monthly project status report and forecasting reporting and endorse suggested corrective actions to maintain the project within planned cost and schedule.
Identify opportunities of Project Controls improvement for management review and consideration.
Acts in the owner’s best interest by interacting with internal technical and functional groups and Turnkey Contractor for project success.
Perform any other duty related to the safe delivery of the project that may be assigned by the Project Manager
Qualifications:
Graduate in Engineering or any related technical or business discipline. Relevant project management certifications will be a valuable asset.
Minimum of 15-20 years of related experience with preference given to Aluminum Smelter, Mining, Large Industrial Processing and Oil and Gas experiences within or outside the province.
Previous experience in setting up or overseeing project controls departmental activities on or an industrial project with budget exceeding $150M USD is mandatory.
Proven experience and ability in planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, estimating and cost control.
Strong knowledge of the “Earned Value Management” principles with the ability to produce, read and modify schedules and scheduling curves/reports.
Natural leader and team builder who can build strong relationships quickly and ability to effectively lead project controls staff.
Proven problem solver with sound judgment who accepts ownership and accountability and able to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
Detail oriented and customer focused.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of SAP (Mandatory) and required project controls software which may include Primavera (P6), etc.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective business relationships to reach company objectives.
Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple project stakeholders, interpret stakeholders needs, and identify solutions.
Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
